SPRINGTIME

Flowers, fresh cut grass, rain, kids playing outside, sidewalk chalk. and birds chirping. Spring is finally here. Ive been looking forward to this all winter.
The weather outside has been very nice lately which makes me want to stay home from school just to enjoy the nice weather. Its been in the eightys which is my favorite temperatures. Its perfect, and you dont even need a jacket.
I love it when I go outside after school and it is perfect weather. Although it is sad that I have to be cooped up in a nursing home till 8:30. Its pure torture. I go outside after school and I can feel the hot sun and the coo l breeze, and all I can think about it is how I will not be able to enjoy this. It makes me very depressed. I have a tota.l of 15 minutes before I have to be closed inside the nursing home doors. I usually just take a drive around with the windows down so I can enjoy that short amount of fresh air. However It is awsome when I get to work at the daycare. Every single day we get to go outside with them. Its nice. I get paid while also getting to be outside for about 45 minutes and enjoying the weather with the kids.
Im so glad it is finally Spring. That only means its closer to graduation and summer vacation.

10 THINGS I LEARNED IN NYC
1.There are black squirrels in New York- We were walking in a park with our whole group. I spotted a black squirrel climbing a tree. I was amused by such a thing so i began to yell "Look everyone, black squirrel"!!!!!
2.Chanel is pronounced (sha-nell).-Mckenzie White,Mrs Farrell, and I were walking down some road in New York. I saw Chanel and told them that there is Chanel, except i pronounced it Channel. It then became a joke to us.
3.Revolving doors don't always go automatically- I went into one of the doors and stood there, but nothing happened. Mckenzie then informed me that I had to push the door. From then on,I was able to go through a door all on my own.
4.Don't be friendly with every person you see-Street vendors are the best example of this. When they came up to me and asked me to buy things,I learned that I could just keep walking.
5.New York is huge-Although this may seem like a dumb thing to learn,It actually became real to me how big it actually was. We were allowed to split up and roam the streets but Farrell thought it'd be a good idea to stay with her and the group.
6.Time Square has a Kmart-yes,it is true. This amazed us all.
7.Honking is illegal in some places in NYC-There were signs on some roads that read "Honking is $350 ticket."
8.People in NYC are crazy drivers-This is very true. There are so many buses, taxis, and people and drivers think they can drive like idiots.
9.People in New York have accents-I did not realize this before I went.
10.Flying isn't scary-I thought it was going to be much worse than it actually was.

I had a lot of fun in New York and realized it was much cooler than I expected.

prom prom prom

Prom is coming soon. Im sure all of you have heard about prom just about every day. Something about it,whos going with who, where there eating, everything. Its quite annoying when people plan out every little detail and freak out when prom is over a month away. And its sad that its the onlyyy thing people talk about.

I understand that some people are quite excited because it is a big event. And it does make sense to start looking for a dress early on because you dont want to have the last pick. It also does make sense to maybe find a date early so your not left alone.

But when people already are complaining about how there group isnt desciding on the exact time to eat, that is when I get annoyed. People sitting there arguing on wether to go t 5 or 5:15. That draws the line.

Im actually one of the people that does everything last minute. And it is quite a bad habbit. I thought I was going to be left with a couple hundred dollar dress and no date.

Turns out, I got a dress and a prom date this weekend. All in the same day. A whole month early. Which is quite good for me.

blue hair nets.

So, today i started a new job. Your probably thinking I started some fun job. Maybe at the mall, or some neat restaurant. But no, I started a job at the nursing home.

Its actually not all that bad, besides the fact that I have to clean dishes and be on my feet for over 4 hours. Some things can be fun though, when the sweet old people say nice things or smile at you.

Today it wasnt bad because my cousin Madi is the one to train me. I get to go to work for two days with her, so I can learn everything. Although I wish I could work with her everyday, I'll be happy with the two days that I do get to.

The first day actually went okay. We got there at 4:00 and got to work right away. We got our hair nets on,which are blue...and not the cutest things ive ever seen. We started out by setting the table and getting everything ready. After that we got the pitchers ready and set them all out. We served the food, washed the dishes, moped, took the trash out, and many other things that I cant even remember.

The best part of tonight was when this little old lady would talk to us. Shes about 90 years old im guessing and has alztimers. Everytime I would walk by she would say the funniest things. When i clanked the silverware a little, she got a little angry and warned me not to do it again. But she did tell me that she wouldnt tell on me this time and that she'd let me get away with it. That was hilarious to me.

All in all, today went pretty well. It was the first day at a new job so of course there will be some challenges. But hey, its money.

Snow day number 7

Yesterday was a snow day. Yes, another snow day. Number seven so far and probably more to come.

Snow days usually go about the same for me every time. Yesterday i got up and my mom told me it was a 2 hour delay. I was very glad with this since I could use some extra sleep. I went back to bed for another 2 hours. Right when i was about to get up my mother came in once again but now told me that school was closed. I was kind of bummed actually. Sad to say, but i would have rather had school.

Yes, snow days can be a nice break from school, but when you live in the country and the road gets drifted shut its not so fun. I only live one mile down a gravel road but the road is the worst. Its always bad and theres always multiple cars in the ditch. Just in that short mile to my house.

My snow day started out okay since i got that extra 2 hours of sleep but then it was just boering from there. My two younger sisters were thrilled that i got to stay home. So yes, that ment a whole day spending quality time with them. Which was okay by me i guess. First we started out playing nintindo. Lydia,my 5 year old sister is addicted to the game so i thought id be nice and play with her. I found it quite sad though that she was almost better than me and knew all of the little tricks that i didnt. Yet, I still kept playing with her even though she kept making fun of me for not catching the mushrooms.

As soon as we were finished with the game, both sisters wanted to watch a movie in my room. They think there cool when they get to come to there big sisters room, since i dont let them in here very much. I picked out a few movies that i could stand watching. From the movies i choose, Lydia and Ella picked to watch Annie. We sat down, and watched the movie which was actually very good.

As soon as that was over Lydia and I, once again sat down to play nintendo. I could only stand about 5 minutes of that so i went to my room to do a puzzle, which is not to exciting but i thought id make the day go a little faster. Finally the day was almost over. I got to end my great snow day by watching another movie with my sisters. This time it was a Princess Barbie movie. All together, my snow day was very boering. That is why I would rather be at school.

Kids say the darnest things

Children are amazing when it comes to the fact that they can say whatever they want. They often times say things that they maybe should not have shared with people. I work at a daycare and i constantly hear crazy stories. Some funny, and some i wish i had never heard.

There is one child in particular that never knows when to stop talking and comes up with the craziest stories. The other day she came up to me and started telling this wonderful story about how her parents were pirates. She went on and explained how working as pirates they have very dangerous jobs and how she couldnt tell everyone about there jobs because she was afraid the bad pirates would get them. I thought this story was hilarious but tried to hold back my laughter because i needed to explain to her that she can joke around but she needed to not make up such crazy stories and tell people that she is only joking. She was actually trying to make me believe that her parents were pirates. Im 18 years old, does she really think i would believe such a thing.

Another crazy story where a child says what they feel happened with my cousin Logan when he was 5. Logan was at my great grandmas house for the day and was talking to her. He looked at her with a serious face and asked "Why is your skin falling off your bones grandma"? He went on and wondered why she had all those cracks in her face. She told him it was because she was getting old. Its hilarious, yet sad what kids can say.

There are many other silly things i hear just from listening to childs conversations. There is a little girl that is 6 years old and was singing a song. I thought she was just singing a happy little tune like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, like most other children do. But i was wrong. I went up closer to her so i could hear better. The child was singing 15 Bottles of Beer on the Wall. Yes, this 6 year old child. Although it was funny I had to tell her that it was not school appropriate and she could not sing it at school anymore. She went on to say that her grandparents and family members sing this when they drink and she sings along. She apparently did not know that she couldnt talk about this at school.

I find myself laughing to myself at work. Kids simply, just say what the want. Its like the show "Kids Say the Darnest Things". It is true, kids do say the darnest things. Its amazing what children can say and the stories they can tell.
